Day 41
Last minute shopping @ Grand Ocean

Second last day in Wuhan. While the others went to shop at the other areas, Xanier and I had our last shopping trip to Grand Ocean. Since it’s our last shopping trip, we took their public bus instead of the normal taxis or private vans. Because today is their public holiday, a lot of students had gone out for their shopping trip too.

After the boarding of the bus filled with its passengers, we had a sense of achievement. A big thank you for Xanier, who went to take the bus with me and helped me to squeeze onto that bus.

Shopping, shopping, and shopping. The purpose of today’s shopping trip is mainly to buy all the stuffs that we haven’t bought for our relatives and friends. The shopping mall is too huge that we took about 3 hours of walking in that mall! Even Xanier felt tired with those long hours of shopping. Met CK and gang along the way, but we took a private cab back to hostel first as we were rushing back to pack and weigh our luggage.

Back in the campus, we managed to repack our stuffs into our luggage and weigh it on the weighing machine. As there isn’t much people weighing at that period of time, Xanier and I weighed myself on the scale. Guess what, Xanier lost about 5kg, and I gained about 3kg!!! Sigh… The result of eating too much without control.

Luckily we had our luggage weighed way before the students form other divisions came to weigh theirs too. A word “chaotic” could be the best word to describe the scenario. Later in the night, a group of us went out to light up the fireworks that we have bought. However, as our intentions were discovered by the security guards and we were supposedly not allowed to light up in the campus, we had to return back to our hostel.

Reflections

I will definitely miss the smelly beancurd, 汤包(tang bao), Teppanyaki, and their satay squid there. I would say 42 days of immersion is just nice, not too long and not too short. But knowing that we will be going back to our own homes and living styles make me feel both happy and sad. Happy that I could see my family again; sad that I would have to bid goodbye with my friends that have always been beside me for the 42 days. It is so unbelievable that the 21 of us has turned from strangers to friends, or even best friends. A very unforgettable trip, I would say. But for every start, there will has an ending. Thank you guys for being so a wonderful bunch of people!!!

13 more hours left.
