Day 26 to 27
Trip to Wudang Mountain

Day 26
This is our last trip for touring! Because 3 of us were late, we have to spend our longest bus ride on the ICT bus…

Finally, as we reached at the foot of the Wudang Mountain, it rained. We had our lunch there before continuing to move up to our lodging place, which is at located on the route halfway up the mountain. After that, we had a short tour around the mountain via a small tour bus. As the shape of the road goes according to the winding slope of the mountain, some of us felt giddy during the ride. But except for Xanier, she laughed non-stop throughout the whole journey, and everyone was like starring at here. Hahas!

Meanwhile as we tour around the temples in Wudang Mountain, let me give you a short introduction about Wudang:

Since the olden days, Wudang Mountain has always been a great place for the Taoists to practice martial arts, and cultivate their inner souls. Hence, one can see a lot of Taoist temples during the tour. Now, protected under the UNESCO World Heritage Site policy, most of these infrastructures are being preserved and have become one of the famous touring site for Hubei…

We ended our trip and had our dinner. Due to the shortage of rooms, the whole group of Ngee Ann students had to split into two different motels. As soon as we had our dinner, Eshlyn and I went to accompany Alvin to the other motel, which he will be living. On our way there and our way back, there’s actually a little amount of street lights to lighten up the dark road. The night was cold, SUPER cold. The temperature fell till about 15 degrees Celsius and we still felt cold without switching on the air-con!!! And the fact that the water pipe is bended and the water heater is faulty, we had to bath with that little amount of COLD water. Shall go to Yoke May’s bathroom to bath tomorrow. Nights!!!

Day 27
It was the second day of the Wudang trip. Once we finished our early breakfast, we packed our bags and prepared ourselves to climb the Wudang Mountain! For an average person to climb all the way up to the highest peak of the Wudang Mountain- Golden Top, it is said to take about 3 hours. And from what I heard from my friends, it takes about six thousand and something steps to reach there.

Hope I did not scare you off. There are actually alternatives to reach there. Either by paying around 90 RMB for a cable car two-way trip, or about 100RMB for a one-way trip transported in a sedan manner.

On our way up, we cheered for our people, and some even waited for those who were far behind the group. Some even cheered for the students from other division. Even though this trip was long and tedious, we had all the cheering that keeps us going on.

At last, when we managed to reach the top, all of us had a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Yes, we managed to conquer this six thousand and something steps of mountain route!!!

We took about 30 minutes to look around at the peak of the mountain. Soon, it was time to go down.

However, 上山容易,下山难. This is a Chinese saying that climbing up a mountain is easier as compared to climbing down from the mountain top. Fortunately, our tour guide turned off the idea of climbing down the Wudang Mountain. If not, my legs would be trembling, and I wonder how long would I take to reach the foot of the mountain…

Reflection

Day 26
During all these days, we went for a lot of trips. And all thanks to Qin Da Ge, our welfare were being greatly taken care of. From our meals to our lodging, he would always put in extra effort to make sure that everything goes well according to the schedules.

Day 27

Chatted with Mr Loh on our way to the cable station during the return trip. Mr Loh asked me why I would rather choose to climb up the mountain by myself instead of taking the cable. One of the reasons was that I do not have enough money left. But on the other hand, I saw people carrying heavy packets of water, trying to climb up the mountain. And if these people can do it, why not? So, I thought that instead of paying money for a 30 minutes to one hour of ride, why not I depend on my Number 11 bus (legs) and spend some time longer to experience the things that such alternatives couldn’t?

After having our lunch, Alvin, Eshlyn, Xanier and I went back to the ICT bus for our return journey back to WUST. And during our way back, I saw how organized the ICT students were, to such extent that the tour guide and their lecturers actually do not have to head-count the students. Halfway through the trip, we had fun listening to the group of ICT students singing and cheering on the bus. We even had the privilege to watch the movie, Initial D during the long trip back. Although there might be some differences between us, seeing how united they are makes me envy of them. Such things are what I am trying to find and it is hard to find. These people could really make themselves occupied and entertained.
