Day 5
Lulin-Part 1

Early in the morning at about 7.20am, all of us got ready to go for our 2D1N Lulin Trip. We had water rafting and exploring of the Belle Valley in Day 1, and trekking of Lulinshan in Day 2.

Oh well, we had to take the (I could say) the most exciting and terrifying bus ride for 4 long hours! Because this is my first time taking such a long bus ride, it had already caused my butt and back to ache like: some old lady. What's more, is that the bus driver drove (or perhaps sped) the bus while pressing the horn at least 4 times in 5 mins! This ride was "Ai-yo-yo ARH!" Even Xanier had said that the bus driver must have played the game called "Crazy Taxi".

Though the whole ride was bumpy and noisy throughout, almost everyone took a nap on the bus.

Reached our destination!

We bought straw sandals for water rafting. Too bad we were advised not to carry our cameras along since it will get wet.

What a good time doing water rafting with our dear Xanier. Her one row equals to my few rows! But overall , I guess with her around, sure can reach the final destination one!*Insert "WAHAHA" laughters here*

After doing the water rafting, we headed to a place called 美人谷 A.K.A Belle Valley.

Heard from our Tour guide 小陈, there are two beautiful love stories behind this valley.

1st: Once upon a time, there is a fairy known as the 九天玄女, went bathing at the 美人池 and got peeped by a hunter. Hence, while flying off in a rush, 九天玄女 dropped a piece of special jade given by a goddess. It dropped into the water, which explains why the water in Belle Valley is greenish jade in colour. On the other hand, as the hunter fell in love at first sight with the fairy, he sat by the lake and waited for her return until he became into a stone, which further explains the formation of a face-like stone sitting beside the lake.

2nd[slightly similar as the 1st]: A lady was bathing at the lake when a king came by. Both looked at each other and fell in love at first sight. They lived happily ever after until one day, the king went for war. So everyday, the lady did her own things (e.g. washing laundry, singing songs), while waiting for him to come back. Here, the lake became the place of their first meeting, and the stone became the face of the lady waiting for the king to come back.

After going to the Belle Valley, we went to have our dinner and checked in the resort there for the night. One word to describe the resort: SHIOK! The room and the toilet there is definitely bigger than our hostel room, plus a television for us to watch. On the note, it is surely interesting to watch the China shows especially when it is quite different from the shows in Singapore; for example, having a Shaolin monk V.S. an acupuncture master in the arts of 点穴.

Soon, we went down to participate in their Lulin campfire performance. All of us were engaged in their dance and the skit performance, trying to capture the conversation speed of the Chinese people. The last performance was the campfire performance led by the tribal people:

Reflection

After the water rafting, me and my friends went to the bathing room for a bath. Upon going there, we realised that there is actually no doors for each cubicle and everyone is free to go out of the cubicle naked and change their clothes outside. In addition, all the cubicles have BIG FAT mosquitoes flying around. That scene had really shocked me. In Singapore, you would hardly see this kind of scenario happening, and even if it's a outdoor shower, there would definitely not have more than 3 BIG FAT mosquitoes flying around, preying for your blood.

Look at this picture. While sitting in the bus, I observed that almost every trees have their bottom portion of the trunks painted with white paint. I believe that it works the same way as the Singapore's version of the road's sharp deviation.

But come to a point, imagine leading a group of people is already not easy. Then how about governing a small country like Singapore, or even a big country like China? Here in Singapore, people are more concentrated in a small piece of land, which makes it more easier to govern and develop things as compared to China. Therefore, the way things worked in China may not be as convenient as what is seems in Singapore as their level of development has not been able reach out to everyone and every part of its land.
