Day 15
Interaction time with China students [Pluck tangerines & BBQ Night]

In the morning, all of us went to the farm with the WUST student leaders to pluck tangerines. It is one of the interaction events that we had with the students here, and today will be the first.

Tangerines!

We had fun walking around the farm and we plucked some tangerines on the way. Sounds a little weird here, but almost all these tangerines are green in colour. I tasted it and… it tasted SUPER sour!! Oh well, I supposed we came at the wrong time.

At about 5pm, we had our second activity, which is the BBQ session. As student leaders led us to their BBQ place, the first thing that came into my mind is that their BBQ place is quite different from what we have. Because their setting up of BBQ is also quite different from ours, we took quite some time for us to really get the right temperature for BBQ.

Preparing for BBQ...

When the BBQ was about to end, students from ICT went to light up the fireworks that they have bought. As we watched them lighting up, these fireworks painted the sky with beautiful bright sparks. With that, it soon marked the end of our BBQ session and today’s interaction period. Hope to interact with them again soon!

Reflections

First and foremost, I would like to say a big thank you to the WUST student leaders for planning and putting in so much effort for this first interaction. Other than having mere chatting and interacting with us, they went on an extra mile. Some of them helped us to pick the sweetest tangerine that they could find; some used the resources available and baked sweet potato for us; some told us where to buy fireworks and stuff; and some even signed up for msn just to chat with us online.

What they did had not gone to waste. I believed that all of us felt welcomed and had fun making friends from people of different country, background and culture.
